As your Interim Pastor, I want to get to know you. And I hope we can get to know each other. Doing so can only make our time together as partners in ministry much stronger, deeper, and powerful. So, to get to know you, I will be doing something I have been doing in my congregations for years. It’s called…Porch Sitting with the Pastor.
Porch Sitting with the Pastor is an agenda-less time of pure fellowship where we talk, laugh, cry (if you need to), eat (if you want to), share a cup of coffee or tea or other beverage of choice (as you feel appropriate to) and where you can ask me questions and we can simply get to know one another. Porch Sitting can happen on a literal porch – either at your home or here at the church. We have a lovely porch at Lauxman house and there’s lots of room to sit outside the entryway to the church. Of course, this is all weather permitting. So…Porch Sitting can happen in your living rooms or in my office or at the Starbucks or your favorite local restaurant…Porch Sitting can happen in the comfy lounge area outside the worship space or on the bleachers at the school sporting event or in the auditorium of the school or local theater or dance recital…Porch Sitting can happen as individuals or as couples or as groups.
No matter where, no matter when, all Porch Sitting needs is you and me and the Holy Spirit (ok, and maybe a really good drink appropriate to the environment). Lol…
In the coming weeks, I will start offering some scheduled times for Porch Sitting with me. Some of them will be open-ended and you can just show up if you want. Some of them will need you to sign up/schedule with me. And if none of the times works for you, then I hope you’ll reach out and set up your own Porch Sitting time with the Pastor.
