My name is Ron Maree and I joined the church in 1982. My wife, Marni, and I have 3 children; Paul, Patrice, and Sean all whom were baptized and confirmed at Peace. We now have 3 grandchildren with one on the way. Our two grandsons live in Oregon, one grandson is local for now and our granddaughter on the way will be born in Connecticut where our son is stationed in the USCG. I had the privilege of being each of my kid’s Sunday school teacher for many years. I moved to Virginia after finishing my time in the Navy where I was a Supply Corps officer at the Navy’s International Logistic Center in Philadelphia. That is where I met Marni since we both worked there as well as Marni’s father who I knew before we met while she was the summer intern in our graphics department. We were married in 1984 and she moved to Virginia where we raised our family. After the Navy, I worked for Northrop Grumman for many years and now work part-time for a small company supporting the Federal government. Someday soon I may retire full time!
Both Marni and I have been active in the Church and enjoy working with others to share the Good News. I have been active in the Ministry to Others and Advocacy for many years doing work with ACCA and our local community. I have taken many trips to Haiti in support of our Village of Hope mission and traveled to Israel, Jordan, Turkey, and Greece with various church groups for religious pilgrimages. Next year Egypt! I now work at our local food pantry each week, which I find very rewarding. I participate in the Brothers of Peace men’s group and encourage others in the congregation to join us. In terms of hobbies, my main interests are history and travel. I am fortunate that, thanks to Marni being a professional watercolor artist, we get to take groups of artists overseas to paint and sight see. We recently returned from Alaska and in a few months are off to Venice and Tuscany for another art and history adventure. We are very blessed to be able to combine our various interests in art, religion, history, and travel to share with others.
