Stu Whitehead was born and lived in Libertyville, Illinois, but him and his family moved to Burlington, Vermont when he was 9. He returned to the Midwest for college and earned his B.S. in chemistry from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, and then moved to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville to earn his Ph.D. in organic chemistry and meet his future wife, Marissa (Wilson). He currently works as a scientist at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Indian Head, MD. In his free time he enjoys practicing and playing in amateur golf tournaments around the DMV, discovering new craft beers, playing board games, and bar trivia. He and Marissa currently live in Alexandria and have been members at Peace since April 2019. He’s relatively new to church, but dedicated to the Peace community and confident in learning from the diverse voices here at Peace.
