Sunday is All Saints Day. We will light candles as we read the litany of saints who have died. It is always a holy and beautiful commemoration.
From the Bible, we’ll hear about the death and resurrection of Jesus’ friend Lazarus. Jesus wept when he discovered his friend had died. Even though he would raise him again, he still cried This gives us license to grieve too. We proclaim our faith in the resurrection of the dead and yet we cry and mourn when loved ones die because our lives are changed forever.
I will preach about good grief, the communion of saints, and what it means that even Jesus’ wept.
After worship on 10:30, I will have an informal Q&A about our new partnership with Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services. Curious to know more about it? Just stay online or in person after worship.
