Small Group Study on Race and White Privilege
This study is an ELCA resource designed to guide participants in self-reflection and awareness around issues of race and, in particular, the oft-uncomfortable reality of white privilege. The study follows the church lectionary cycle and gatherings take place over a year. Prayerful support is sought from the larger congregation; there will be times over the year that the congregation is invited to enter the conversation and learning. Described as a journey from privilege to partnership, this initiative seeks to invite people to “look forward to being transformed by the Spirit from persons of privilege to partner in building not only a more inclusive and multicultural church, but also a more just world.” The meeting days and times will be determined by the availability of those who participate.
