Art and Music Intersect on the Road to Emmaus

From Mark Olsen:

The “Road to Emmaus,” work by Robyn Sand Anderson measuring 30” by 60” is a painted acrylic on gallery stretched canvas. It hangs outside the entrance to the Chapel in the Lutheran Center in Chicago. The image and theme were used for the Rostered Ministers Gathering in Atlanta last August. I met and talked with Robyn (her husband is the bishop of the Southwestern Minnesota Synod) and I purchased a 12” by 20” giclée of the painting which hangs in our home. In addition to different translations of Luke’s Road to Emmaus text and reading sermons rooted in the story, a choral piece entitled “Abendlied” helped inspire her work.Take a look at her artwork and listen to the choral piece here.
