Words for the Week – November 15, 2018

Sunday, November 18, 2018 Peace and House of Faith International will have a combined worship service at 10:30 am. Come join in the joyful praise as our two congregations worship, pray and raise a joyful noise together! Please join the reception in the Fellowship Hall after the Family Meeting.

Last week, our guest preacher Rev Leila Ortiz preached about the interest and attention Jesus gave to a widow as she offered two small coins.  On pledge Sunday, she helped us see that our offering is a way of giving Christ-like attention to people who need compassion and love.

Listen to last week’s sermon here.

This week, I will preach on Jesus’ instruction that in the midst of great upheaval and social chaos, his followers should not be alarmed. Not be alarmed!? What?!  Obviously, Jesus knew that we are highly reactive people.

That’s not to say we should become numb to suffering or misfortune; quite the opposite. But Jesus helps us face our fears about destruction of things that aren’t of God, trusting that God makes all things new.

Be at Peace,
Pastor Sarah
