Words for the Week – May 17, 2018

Last week I used the example of a parent teaching a child to ride a bike to demonstrate the kind of trust that God gives us.  God lets us go.  When we keep our eyes trained on what’s ahead and trust what God has given us, we can spread God’s presence and message far.

I don’t know why it is that everyone has not been given the gift of faith.  But I do know that because we are in the world as God’s emissaries, God shows up in the world through each of us. On Ascension Day we remembered that Christ left the Earth but God’s presence stayed through the Holy Spirit and us. We are the body of Christ!

Listen to the sermon here.

This week is Pentecost and Confirmation Sunday.  On Pentecost we celebrate two things: the coming of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the church.  What a great day for one of our young people to affirm his faith.  And what a great day to look at plans for the future of our congregation. Please plan to stay after worship to see the draft master plan for Peace’s facilities.   God’s spirit has brought us this far in faith.  God is with us still!

Be at Peace,
Pastor Sarah
