Words for the Week – May 10, 2018

Last week, I preached about inviting God into your life.  So often, I live as if I need to chase after God instead of realizing that God is RIGHT HERE, with me all the time.   Taking a moment to invite God in can change everything, especially in a stressful or challenging time. The classic table prayer can be prayed anytime, anywhere.  Even right now.  Go ahead, try.  Take a deep breath and pause and pray “Come Lord Jesus, be our guest.” God is with you.

Listen to the sermon here.

This week, we are near the end of the Road to Emmaus journey.  We dovetail onto Ascension Sunday with the part of the Road to Emmaus story where Jesus disappears from sight.  After a few more resurrection appearances, he will ascend from Earth completely.
Without him, you might think the whole movement would wither but the opposite happens.  With the presence of the Holy Spirit, the disciples grow up, step up, and spread the gospel.  I’ll preach about the wonderful, heavy responsibility of being the ones God trusts to carry the good news into the world.

Be at Peace,
Pastor Sarah
