Words for the Week – March 28, 2019

Our church is praying during Lent.  Last week, I talked about prayer as hunger and food.  Prayer satisfies our deepest needs and at the same time, helps us cultivate a hunger for the world as God would have it.

Listen to the past sermons here.

This week, we welcome Bishop Richard Graham to preach on the Prodigal Son.  All week I’ve been drawn to the elder son – the one who is resentful and righteously so!  What I never noticed before is that the father does as much to reach out to the responsible older brother as he does to reach the wayward younger son.  Both are lost. Both get found.
Reconciliation is possible because God reaches out to people who can’t quite reach each other and rebuilds relationships with forgiveness and grace.
Be at Peace,
Pastor Sarah
