When Jesus was surrounded by five thousand hungry people, the disciples didn’t believe they could feed them all. A boy offered a few loaves of bread and a couple of fish and miraculously, Jesus fed the whole crowd, with some left over.
This story follows a pattern found throughout Scripture: 1) There is a great need. 2) People doubt anything can be done. 3) Someone offers something small. 4) God performs a miracle.
In the face of great need, any human offering seems inadequate. Still, we offer what we can, trusting that God works miracles.

This Sunday, we’ll hear that there is “one body and one spirit. One Lord, one faith, one baptism.” (Ephesians 4:4-5). In the service of that unity, we were each given different gifts.
Do you ever compare yourself to other people and wonder how your gifts fit in? Just as the body has many parts that all work together, so does the community of God’s people, the church. Everyone is needed!
Be at Peace,
