Word for the Week – September 5, 2019

Greetings Church!  This Sunday is a kick-off Sunday with our Belvedere Bags service project and potluck after the worship service, and Sunday School for kids and youth.  It’s a great time to re-engage with Peace if you’ve been gone for the summer. I’d love to see you!

It’s also a Sunday when we’ll hear some hard words from Jesus about priorities.  He says we have to give up everything to follow him, including our most cherished relationships and possessions.  Honestly, his challenge is too hard.  Very few of us could be called disciples if it requires doing what Jesus says here.

And maybe that’s the point.  Few people are called to what Jesus describes.  The working title of my sermon is “Discipleship for the rest of us: How to follow Jesus and still love our parents.” I’ll address how regular people like you and me can be faithful to God’s call to follow Jesus.

Listen to her sermon from last week here.
