Sunday is Reformation Day, when we celebrate the change that the Spirit brought to Christianity 500 years ago.
The spiritual revival of the church that Martin Luther led seem like no-brainers now, but I think it’s important to remember that his proposed changes led to death threats and ex-communication. That’s to say…change is hard. What motivated Luther? He was plugged into God’s spiritual power and he was profoundly concerned for the well-being of people. Those are the same things that I trust can motivate us to change too.
In my sermon, I’ll address the kind of changes I think the church is being called to make in order to keep the Spirit flowing powerfully through our congregation.
Last week, Pastor Brian Erickson preached at Peace and shared his story of grief during Adult Education.
