Quilters

Peace Quilters make quilts for the unhoused and other people in need locally and worldwide. Full size quilts are donated to local homeless shelters and are sent to areas in need, nationally and overseas, by Lutheran World Relief. Cot-size quilts are donated to the ACCA Children’s Center in Annandale.

In 2023, we took three cars and seven people to donate 112 quilts to the Lutheran World Relief warehouse in New Windsor, MD. These quilts are then shipped all over the world to people who need a warm blanket. Several quilts were also given to Alternative House, a shelter for battered women.

We work as an assembly line creating these beautiful quilts. Several people cut donated fabric into squares. A second group fashions the squares into a quilt. The squares are then sewn together and a backing and batting are layered together. Another group sews the edges and lastly the layers of the quilts are tied together.

Come join us! – no experience is necessary, just a desire to make something that can help others.

We meet every Thursday, all year round, from 9:30AM to noon in the church fellowship hall. Feel free to stop by.

Would you like to donate? Donations of cotton fabric, flat sheets and 3-ply yarn are welcomed and appreciated. These items can be dropped off at the church during office hours or Sunday mornings.
